You Know It’s Christmas Season When We See These Traditions!

When it comes to customs and beliefs, Bataeño are not exempt. We are surrounded by a lot of things that can cause us to reflect about our prior selves and who we were before.

You will know that the Christmas season has already begun when you gradually begin to experience these:

  • It's customary not just in Bataan but across the entire country to say "Namamasko po" when you're already a godfather or godmother, then grab your hand and bless (a welcome motion used by children to adults in the Philippines), which means you should give your godchildren gifts or ampaos!

  • As soon as you start to hear Christmas carols outside your home, you'll notice that some of your neighbors are turning out their lights while others are just enjoying the music. This is a blatant sign that the holiday season has already arrived!

  • And you'll know it's officially Christmas when you have your Christmas parties planned, whether at work, school, or even at home, and you've already chosen your Monito or Monita.

With these in mind, be sure to give your all throughout the final month of the year and to be a Bataeño who is prepared to be surprised, to give surprises, and to wait for surprises this upcoming season.
