From music lovers and churchgoers, Bataeños are known for those and the people all around the world who celebrate Christmas, carols are the beloved musical backbone of the festive season.

But what are the best carols ever written and we can also sing along?

We’ve donned our Christmas hats and found the most enduring Christmas carols for you to enjoy!

Away in a Manger

Children love this late 19th-century carol a lot. Jonathan E. Spilman originally created the tune in 1837, but William J. Kirkpatrick subsequently modified it. This is mostly sung during choirs in some churches here in Bataan

Angels from the Realms of Glory

This song, which was composed by Scottish poet James Montgomery and published for the first time on Christmas Eve 1816, still sounds lovely even though it was written 200 years ago. This can be heard at the different churches in Bataan, Catholic or non-Catholic.

The First Noel

This song is written in different hymnals #DitoSaBataan. It can also be heard when there are some carolings in front of your house. This song is a traditional song ever written and people will surely love to sing along.

O Little Town of Bethlehem

Rector Phillips Brooks was inspired by the vista of Bethlehem from the hills of Palestine to write the lyrics to this hymn after making a journey to the Holy Land. Lewis Redner, the church organist, composed the tune for the neighborhood Sunday school kids' choir three years later, in 1871. Even up to this day, this song is still playing since Bataeños are known for being religious and church oriented.

O Come All Ye Faithful

When performing carols in front of various homes, this song is well-liked by children and even adults. Despite being melodious, the song manages to captivate listeners with its lovely and well-crafted tune. This is also quite religious, and Bataeos will undoubtedly recognize the song from the introduction alone.

Christmas carols serve as a reminder that God sent his son to live among us out of his infinite love for us. Christians have celebrated and given witness to the arrival of the Messiah through song throughout the ages, just as the first Christmas was marked by singing.

Since we are living #DitoSaBataan, we can all sing along through this music because after all, we came from the land of “Mga Bayani at BANAL.”
